Claire Teal Interviews Conductor John Wilson, 28 Sep 2014

BBC’s resident singer/interviewer welcomes Proms stalwart and all-around “shouty, scary” (her description) conductor John Wilson to the studio to talk about his new CD album Cole Porter in Hollywood and his orchestra’s 2014 tour.

Here’s The JWO’s rendition from the album of Porter’s gimmicky “Stereophonic Sound” from Silk Stockings (a musical retelling of Lubitsch’s Ninotchka), MGM 1957, Rouben Mamoulian, director. It was The Old Man’s last picture—really, his last completed project. He wasn’t to pass on until 30 years later at the age of 90.
